Alexandre Georges Fourdinois (1799-1871) founded his furniture business in 1835 and became one of the leading sculptors and furniture makers of the Second Empire and purveyor by appointment to Empress Eugénie.

He worked with the sculptor Fossey from the begining of his career up to 1848.

At the Universal Ekhibition of 1855, held in Paris, he shared the highest award, the Medal of Honour, with Barbedienne.

In 1867, he left his business to his son Henry Auguste. His creations were mainly inspired by the Renaissance style. In addition to the extensive production of his workshops, he was one of the main suppliers to the Royal Furniture Repository.
